Weskus Mall celebrated Woman’s Day by treating 10 lucky ladies to a mini make-over with the compliments of Woolworths, Placecol, Clinique at Edgars and West Coast Hair Academy.  They looked absolutely gorgeous!  To end the day off, the ladies enjoyed snacks at the Entertainment Court while being serenaded by local musician, Vernon Vraagom.

On 3 August 2011, Weskus Mall launched the Pensioners' Club and invited pensioners from all over the West Coast to join us for a free brunch at Café Graze!  Sr Joubert from Huis Wittekruin was our speaker and Clinique representative, Andrea Johnson, informed our attendees on the advantages of using Clinique skincare.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Edgars for sponsoring spot prizes and Café Graze for great service and the delicious meal.

Weskus Mall joined forces with Stop Hunger Now to celebrate our 67 minutes for Mandela Day! The campaign kicked off with fundraising in the mall on Saturday in the Entertainment Court. Over 25 volunteers assisted us in collecting money for the event in special “grub Tubs”, courtesy of SHN. Weskus Radio was on site and Christian Horn, a local magician, provided entertainment for kiddies with his well-known magic show.

On Sunday, the packaging event took place and the Entertainment Court was transformed into a production line, with all equipment and food supplied by SHN. We had assistance in packaging from over 65 volunteers, including tenants, service providers, the Radio West Coast, the kickboxing club, a number of local businesses and of course, great support from the community. Weskus Radio gave volunteers and tenants the opportunity to do live radio interviews from the mall!

On Monday, 18 July, we delivered 5,000 meals to 5 schools on the West Coast, and the Centre Management Team spent an hour at each school. The magician joined us too, and provided a 25 minute magic show at each school! We were assisted by the Military Academy with transport and manpower, and two well-known presenters from Weskus Radio joined us at each school.

On Saturday, 9 July, 65 children from the St Andrews Primary Educare & Lifeskills workshop presented a linedancing show at Weskus Mall. Lots of fun was had by all and the talent that came forwards was brilliant! After the show, the children were treated to burgers and chips from Spur and they thoroughly enjoyed their day trip to the mall.

Ons Damesklub het op 30 Junie 2011 weereens vergader vir ‘n oggend vol opwinding, pryse en lekker kuier! Ons gasspreker was Hennie Janse van Rensburg wat ‘n praatjie kom lewer het oor die huwelik en gesinslewe. Woolworths Weskus Mall was ook teenwoordig en het een gelukkige dame trakteer met ‘n gesigsbehandeling, en ‘n interessante praatjie oor ouderdomspesifieke velsorg.

The final leg of the West Coast Kickboxing Road Show took place took place at Weskus Mall on Saturday, 12 March 2011. The event, held in collaboration with the Saldanha Bay Municipality, proved to be highly entertaining to shoppers and also introduced the sport of kickboxing to the community. All participating kickboxers for the duration of the six-week road show received medals for their participation, handed over by Mayor Randall Abdol. The ladies of the Weskus Mall Damesklub was thoroughly spoilt at our last gathering at the luxurious 4-star Shelley Point Hotel & Spa.

Dr Sarel van de Linde presented a talk about cosmetic enhancements, while the ladies from the Spa spoiled lucky attendees with mini make-over, massages and facials!

Opgewonde klanke van die Nedine Blom vertoning het telke besoeker aan die Weskus Mall op hul voete gehad op Saterdag 26 Junie 2010! Die lokkrag was onweerstaanbaar en die kinders kon, soos gewoonlik, nie genoeg van hierdie vertoning kry nie! Nedine het ‘n baie spesiale aanvoeling vir die kindertjies en weet hoe om hulle uit hul doppies te laat kruip. Dit is baie duidelik as jy na ‘n paar van hierdie fotos kyk… Dankie Nedine! On the weekend of 27-30 May 2010, Weskus Mall hosted a Bridal Fair. What a spectacular event this turned out to be! From wedding gowns, venues, caterers to wedding cakes and jewellery was on display throughout the corridors of Weskus Mall. On Saturday, a Bridal Fashion show took place in the Entertainment Court and so many passers-by stopped to ogle at the lovely dresses on the catwalk.

Op Vrydag, 28 Mei, het die Damesklub weereens vergader by Cafe Graze vir ‘n besonderse kuiertjie. Hierdie keer was ons tema Fiksheid en Gesondheid.

Oxigym het ‘n kort seminaar aangebied, wat ons meer geleer het oor hoe die vetjies om die middel vorm en natuurlik ook hoe om dit af te skud!

Weskus Mall het sopas 1 jaar oud geword en ons het dit gevier met ‘n ongelooflike Dameskluboggend by Café Graze! Ons dames het vonkelwyn en ‘n verjaarsdagkoekie met hul aankoms ontvang en was daarna toegespreek deur Jolene Butler, lewensoriënteerder (Life Coach). Ons dames kon hulself so vereenselwig met die voorbeelde en staaltjies wat Jolene vertel het, maar kon benewens dit iets leersaam en waardevol met hul neem.

‘n Vurige buikdans vertoning het gevolg, wat opgevoer was deur Lynn-Marie van Langebaan. ‘n Paar van ons dames was so oorgehaal met die vertoning dat hulle self deelgeneem het in die pret en Lynn-Marie het hulle ‘n paar bewegings en passies gewys.

Café Graze het, soos gewoonlik, estetiese smaaklike geregte voorgesit.

Ons eerste Damesklub oggend van 2010 was ‘n groot sukses!  Salmon Vermaak, verbonde aan Dikaios Saldanha, het ‘n inspirerende praatjie gelewer oor verhoudings en die pad na geluk.  Ons het almal baie baat gevind uit die toespraak en ons bedank hom vir sy teenwoordigheid en sy woorde van bemoediging.

‘n Splinternuwe winkel, Apples & Pears, maak hul deure oop in Weskus Mall op 1 Maart 2010 en het ‘n asemrowende modeparade aangebied!

Weskus Mall het vanaf 27 November 2009 tot 20 Desember 2009 'n kompetisie geloods waar 2 wenners 'n inkopietog ter waarde van R5000 elk kon wen! Die gelukkige wenners, Nisjka Maree en Ruwhan Davids se name is op Maandag, 21 Desember 2009 getrek! Elke wenner het 20 minute gekry om hul R5000 te spandeer by enige winkel by Weskus Mall. Die groot dag het aangebreek op Woensdag, 23 Desember 2009. Die opgewondenheid was tasbaar deur die hele sentrum! Met hul aankoms, het die senuwees bietjie geknaag, maar gou genoeg het ons weggespring, gewapen met 'n waentjie, 'n plan en 'n toegewyde span!! Nisjka, tipies vrou, het haar roete goed beplan en haar lysie slaafs gevolg. Binne 12.95 minute was haar hele R5000 omskep in 'n waentjie vol kleurvolle kersgeskenke. Ruwhan het in minder as 15 minute die sentrum op horings geneem met spoed en ywer en het gegryp soos die lus hom pak! Met sy suster as loods, het die 5jarige outjie met trots vir ma, pa, sus, vriende en familie gekies. Knap gedaan!!

Weskus Mall & West Coast Biltong Deli hosted three Seekoskosbraais on 12, 16 & 30 Dec 09. In true WestCoast style, fires were lit, snoek and crayfish was served, and great talents like Hugo Nieuwoudt, Desmond Wells and Acoutica performed under Die Groot Boom on the deck at Weskus Mall. Desmond Wells got girls on their feet with and the crowd cheerfully sang along to his popular songs and rocking guitar!

Acoustica wowed passersby as they strummed their guitars on the stage, two young talents from the West Coast! Hugo Nieuwoudt caused many smiles throughout the mall as familiar sounds travelled though the passages. Thank you to all our guests and visitors who enjoyed these events with us!

Nedine Blom se SuperCool vertoning op Maandag, 28 Desember 2009, was 'n absolute treffer!! Sy het die skare op hul voete gehad, die jongspan het op die verhoog saamgedans en almal was meegevoer deur haar stem en wilpse spronge! Dankie Nedine vir 'n onvergeetlike vertoning! Groot opgewondenheid het geheers by Weskus Mall gedurende die feestyd en op 14 Desember 2009 het Mnr Pierre Joubert 'n prettige slangvertoning aangebied!

Verskeie slange is ten toon gestel, ook tot die afgryse van sekere grootmense!! Kinders is baie meer braaf! Mnr Joubert het so 'n ogie gehou terwyl almal genooi was om die slange van nader te besigtig, aan te raak en fotos te neem.

Carina's Music School made hearts melt with delightful songs of Christmas. A huge crowd joined in and passers-by stopped to light a candle and sing along. Weskus Mall would like to thank all who made this event possible, Checkers Weskus Mall in particular for their ongoing support in our events, all our guests who enjoyed the evening with us as well as our performers who shared their talent and time with us in celebration of Christmas.

On Friday, 4 December 2009, the Little Walking Angels sang beautiful Christmas carols as they walked through the corridors of the Weskus Mall. All bystanders were completely mesmerized by their angelic voices and couldn’t help but to follow them and sing along.

The entourage ended at the Groot Boom, where Father Christmas stepped out of a 1959 Chevrolet Bellair V8 Sedan to join them!

Over 100 guests collected their candles from the registration desk and lit them up as the sun set over the Weskus Mall.

The next Carols by Candlelight is scheduled for Friday, 18 December 2009 at 19h00. See you there!

Blomtuin Dagsorg Sentrum het hul jaarlikse debutante dinee op Saterdag aand, 5 Desember 2009 by Weskus Mall gehou. Die kleintjies het ‘n konsert opgevoer, tot die vreugdevolle aanskoue van hul gehoor. Café Graze Weskus Mall, het ‘n smaaklike ete voorgesit terwyl die ‘akteurs’ ‘n kort breukie geneem het voor die prysuitdeling.

Mnr en Mej Blomtuin, hul prinse en prinsesse was later bekroon en prettige geskenke was weggegee.

Weskus Mall & Sean’s Car Audio held a Car Shaw in the upper parking of Weskus Mall on Saturday 31st October. Remnants of the hip-hop culture were apparent in the pimped out, high powered, crazy coloured rides lined up in the lot. A lot of time and careful thought goes into getting the most out of your vehicle and these guys definitely seem to be at the top of their game.

Car enthusiasts in the surrounding area came to experience the Sound Off where trophies and certificates were awarded to the very deserving participants.

Die Weskus Mall se tweede Damesklub funksie hoef glad nie terug te staan vir die vorige openiningsgeleentheid nie. Groot pret en opgewondenheid het geheers soos ons dames by Nino’s Weskus Mall op Woensdag 4 November opgedaag het.

In support of cancer patients in South Africa, Woolworths Weskus Mall and CANSA organized a Shavathon at the Weskus Mall on Saturday, October 31st 2009, in order to raise funds for research, educating the public and provide support to all people affected by cancer.

Charming MCs were fired up to entertain the crowds and kicked off the event with thunderous music! Numerous visitors lined up to either go bald or adorn their crowns with spray-on shapes in all sorts of colours. Even part of the Management Team got on board!

The day was a huge success and our corridors were filled with excited smiles and happy faces.

We would like to thank all our visitors who reinforced the campaign with their support and wish CANSA best of luck with their future ventures.

The first annual Weslander Matric Farewell Competition, hosted at Weskus Mall on 17 October 2009, turned out to be an event of note!

Sixty four entrants strutted their stuff on the runway like true professionals. Dressed in only their finest attire, it was difficult to select only 6 winners.

Our very competent judges; Johanna Stoffels (ex-mayor of Saldanhabay), Alida Buckle (Editor: Weslander) and Salome Thonnard (GM: Weskus Mall) had the difficult task of eliminating a few, but finally announced Eugenia Paulo (1st Place), Be-andra Goliath (2nd Place) & Melanie Josephs (3rd Place) as the winners of the “Most Beautiful Dress” category. The winners for the category for the “Best Couple” are Delrice Louw & Logan van Boven (1st Place), Aneska Pedro & Bradley Snyders (2nd Place) and Rita Smit & Roan Kitshoff (3rd Place). Congratulations to the all of you!

Local singer, Melindi Charle, kept our guests entertained throughout the event, and our MC, Pattra Mei from RSG, with her bubbly personality, added a fun element to the day.

In support of Casual Day, Weskus Mall’s tenants decided to dress up and show off their weirdest and funkiest outfits. Our tenants turned the mall into a hype of creativity with outfits that were at times quite a shocking surprise but funny as well. Thank you to all our tenants for taking part in this cause for which all the proceeds raised will be donated towards disabled kids.
